FTC “Green Lights & Red Flags” Business Seminar to Feature Carmichael President Tyler Jones

Jones will be a panelist on data security for the August 15 event in Atlanta, helping area professionals better understand business concerns around this issue

Richard TylerALPHARETTA, GA. (PRWEB) AUGUST 08, 2019 — Carmichael Consulting Solutions, LLC, an Alpharetta-based Managed IT Services provider, today announced that company president Tyler Jones will be a featured panelist for “The Secure Entrepreneur,” part of an upcoming Green Lights & Red Flags business seminar. The first in a series of seminars that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and regional partners will be hosting in cities across the country, the one-day workshop will be held at the State Bar of Georgia Conference Center on August 15, 2019, from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jones’ panel begins at 11:30 a.m.
“With hackers attacking corporate systems every 39 seconds, on average, no business is inherently safe,” said Jones. “The ‘sweet spot’ for cybercriminals is the heart of the enterprise — the corporate databases that store sensitive information, from corporate secrets to financial records. Ensuring this data is solidly defended is critical to business continuity — and even survival.”
Eligible for CLE credit and sponsored by the FTC, the Office of the Georgia Attorney General, the State Bar of Georgia Antitrust Law Section and the Better Business Bureau Serving Metro Atlanta, the event will cover advertising, data security, antitrust, social media marketing and other business basics. Its roster of experts will discuss established consumer protection and antitrust principles as well as new developments in the law, including their practical application in today’s marketplace. FTC Commissioner Rohit Chopra and Georgia Attorney General Christopher M. Carr will deliver remarks.
The focus of The Secure Entrepreneur, per the FTC, will be “insights into safeguarding your customers’ personal information and honoring your privacy promises.” The agenda also includes:

  • The Truth About False Advertising. An introduction to federal and state laws prohibiting deceptive and unfair practices.
  • Avoiding a Promotion Commotion. Using e-commerce marketing platforms (including social media and influencers), making “free” offers online and complying with the Consumer Review Fairness Act.
  • Competition Counts: The Basics of Antitrust Law. A do’s and don’ts primer for businesses and attorneys.
When Your Competitor Crosses the Line. Self-regulation and litigation options for challenging a competitor’s deceptive advertising.
  • Professionalism for Attorneys. An optional one-hour session that complies with Georgia’s Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements.

“Data security has never been more important than it is today,” said Jones. “I look forward to sharing our firm’s professional insights into this vital concern.”
